Eggplant Parmigiana

From Sparrow’s dinner menu, the Eggplant Parmigiana is a warm, comforting shareable for $14.

About the Dish

This is classic comfort food done simply: fried eggplant layered with our house-made marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella. The eggplant is fried until tender, the marinara is made in house so it tastes bright and fresh rather than heavy, and the mozzarella melts over the top into that familiar, golden, bubbling finish. It is rich and cozy, the kind of plate that is easy to share at the table or enjoy on your own. At $14 it is also one of the more wallet-friendly shareables on the menu, and a longtime neighborhood favorite at our spot in Kirkland’s Juanita neighborhood on the Eastside.

What to Drink With It

The bright tomato and melted cheese love a medium-bodied red. From our list, the Kiona Merlot is a smooth, food-friendly pour that works well here, or try the DeLille D2 if you want a little more structure. The full Sparrow beverages menu has plenty more reds to choose from.
