From Sparrow’s red wine by the glass list, DeLille D2 is one of our premium pours, a polished Washington take on a Bordeaux blend and an easy splurge by the glass here in Kirkland ($25 a glass).
About DeLille D2
DeLille Cellars is one of Washington’s most respected wineries, and D2 is its signature Bordeaux-style blend from the Columbia Valley. It leans on a broad base of silky smooth Washington Merlot, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of other Bordeaux varietals. The wine spends 18 months in French oak, building intense depth and complexity without turning overly tannic.
Tasting Notes
This is a dark-fruit-focused red with notes of dark chocolate and espresso layered over the fruit. The oak aging gives it a smooth, refined texture, so it feels both serious and approachable. It is a glass to linger over.
What to Pair It With
A Bordeaux blend like this is made for red meat. From the Sparrow dinner menu, pair it with the American Wagyu Filet Mignon or Rib Eye, the Sparrow-Smoked Rack, or the American Wagyu Steak Sandwich. The Eggplant Parmigiana is a great option for the table.
