Belle Glos Rose

About Belle Glos Rose

Belle Glos is the Pinot Noir house founded by fifth-generation winemaker Joseph Wagner, who created the label in 2001 to showcase Pinot Noir from California’s coastal regions. Wagner grew up in the wine business, working alongside his father at Caymus Vineyards before striking out with his own projects. He chose the name Belle Glos to honor his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, a co-founder of Caymus and a great lover of Pinot Noir. While Belle Glos built its reputation on vineyard-designated Pinot Noir from coastal sites like Clark and Telephone in Santa Maria Valley, Las Alturas in the Santa Lucia Highlands, and Taylor Lane on the Sonoma Coast, the house also makes a rose from the same grape. A Pinot Noir rose like this is made by giving the freshly pressed juice only brief contact with the dark grape skins, which is what produces the pale color and the delicate, dry profile of a pink wine rather than a full red. Working from a grape Belle Glos knows so well gives the rose a real pedigree.

Tasting Notes

This is a dry rose made from Pinot Noir, a grape that typically gives pink wines a light, fresh, red-berry character with bright acidity and an easy, crisp finish. Rather than describe a specific vintage we cannot verify, we will simply say it pours in the elegant, food-friendly style you expect from a coastal California Pinot Noir rose. It is a refreshing, versatile wine for the patio or the table, and the kind of bottle that disappears quickly on a warm afternoon.

What to Pair It With

Dry rose is one of the most versatile wines on any list. From the Sparrow dinner menu, enjoy it with the Tuna Tartare, the Burrata Avocado, the Scallops and Prosciutto, or the Spring Arugula Salad. It is also lovely with Fresh Oysters out on the patio and pairs nicely with the Guajillo Chicken.
