About Barrel Amburana Finish

This comes from Barrell Craft Spirits, the Louisville-based independent blender known for sourcing and marrying aged whiskeys into distinctive cask-strength bottlings. The Amburana Finish is a blend of two bourbons finished in casks made from Amburana, a Brazilian wood sometimes called Brazilian oak that has long been used to age cachaca. Amburana is prized for the bold cinnamon, vanilla, and tropical character it gives a spirit. This was a small run, with only 14,400 bottles made, which is part of what makes it a special find on our list.

Tasting Notes

The Amburana wood leads with an intense baking-spice character centered on cinnamon, layered over the rich, sweet bourbon underneath. It is bold and unusual, with vanilla and a warm, almost dessert-like spice running through the finish. A fascinating pour for anyone who loves exploring how different woods shape whiskey.

What to Pair It With

This is a sipping bourbon best enjoyed neat or over a single large cube so the Amburana spice can shine. From the Sparrow dinner menu, it is a treat alongside our American Wagyu steaks or the Sparrow-Smoked Rack. Enjoy it after dinner in our 21+ lounge.
