Tempus Fugit Creme De Cocoa

From Sparrow’s liqueur list, the Tempus Fugit Creme de Cacao is a beautifully old-school chocolate liqueur that brings real depth to a dessert pour or a cocktail ($15 by the pour, or $22.50 for a larger pour).

About Tempus Fugit Creme De Cocoa

Based on a 19th century recipe, Tempus Fugit first creates a raw distillate of cacao from Venezuela and then macerates it with crushed cacao and vanilla beans from Mexico. That careful, historical method is the whole point of the Tempus Fugit house, which specializes in faithfully recreating classic European liqueur recipes for the modern bar. The double approach, distilling the cacao and then steeping more whole cacao and vanilla into it, gives the liqueur a genuine cocoa character and a naturally medium brown color rather than the syrupy, artificial sweetness many chocolate liqueurs lean on. It is a connoisseur’s creme de cacao, and a great one to discover on the Eastside.

Tasting Notes

Expect rich, true cocoa flavor woven with warm vanilla, an unctuous texture, and a finish that is more bittersweet chocolate than candy. It is luxurious without being cloying.

What to Pair It With

This is a dessert in a glass. Sip it after dinner, pour it alongside something sweet from the Sparrow menu, or let our bartenders fold it into an after-dinner cocktail or an espresso-style drink in the 21+ lounge. It is a natural close to the evening.
