From Sparrow’s whiskey list, the Snake River 6 Year is a smooth, rodeo-born pour that fits right into our warm Kirkland lounge ($11 by the pour, or $16.50 for a larger pour).
About Snake River 6 Year
Snake River Stampede whiskey takes its name from the famous Snake River Stampede rodeo in Nampa, Idaho, one of the largest rodeos in the world. The whiskey was created in conjunction with that event and is distilled by Rose City Distilling in Portland, Oregon. This 6 Year expression starts as a grain whiskey aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, then spends additional time in rye whiskey barrels, a finishing step that builds extra depth and spice. It is a fun, approachable bottle with a genuine Pacific Northwest story behind it, which makes it an easy recommendation here on the Eastside.
Tasting Notes
This is an easygoing, sippable style of whiskey. The first-fill bourbon barrel aging lends soft vanilla and caramel sweetness, while the rye barrel finishing adds a gentle layer of baking spice and warmth. Expect a rounded, mellow character that is friendly to newcomers and comfortable for longtime whiskey drinkers alike.
What to Pair It With
This is a sipping whiskey, so enjoy it neat or over a large cube in our 21+ lounge after dinner. It also makes a relaxed Old Fashioned.
