From Sparrow’s bourbon list, Knob Creek is a small batch Kentucky classic with real backbone, a favorite of folks who like their bourbon with some weight to it ($12 by the pour, or $18 for a larger pour).
About Knob Creek Bourbon
Knob Creek is 100 proof and aged nine years in white oak. It comes from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, and was created by the late Booker Noe, a grandson of Jim Beam who is widely credited as a father of the small batch bourbon movement. His idea was to make bourbon the way it was done before Prohibition, fuller and bolder, aged longer and bottled at a higher proof. The name comes from Knob Creek, the area near where Abraham Lincoln spent part of his boyhood.
Tasting Notes
With nine years in white oak and a full 100 proof, this is a rich, robust bourbon. Expect deep notes of caramel, toasted oak, and warm baking spice, with the kind of body and length that rewards slow sipping. It is bold without being harsh.
What to Pair It With
Knob Creek is excellent neat, over a large cube, or as the backbone of an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Sip it in our 21+ lounge after dinner. From the Sparrow dinner menu, it pairs beautifully with the American Wagyu steaks or the Sparrow-Smoked Rack.
