Kalani Coconut Liqueur

From Sparrow’s liqueur list, Kalani Coconut Liqueur is a rich, rum-based coconut pour from Mexico’s Yucatan, $12 by the pour, or $18 for a larger pour. It brings a little tropical warmth to Kirkland’s Juanita neighborhood, an easygoing treat that feels like a small vacation in a glass.

About Kalani Coconut Liqueur

As the menu notes, this is a rum-based spirit from the Yucatan, rich and delicious with subtle notes of dark chocolate. Kalani is produced by Casa D’Aristi, a craft liqueur house in Merida in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula that has been perfecting its recipes since 1935. The coconuts are harvested in the Yucatan, then shredded and pressed for their milk, which is fermented and macerated in sugar cane rum to build the liqueur’s body. It is a small-batch approach that leans on real coconut rather than artificial flavoring, which is what gives Kalani its genuine, fresh-coconut character.

Tasting Notes

Kalani is rich and creamy with a natural, true coconut flavor and the subtle dark-chocolate notes the menu describes. The cane rum base gives it warmth and roundness rather than a candy-like sweetness, so it sips smooth and full without turning cloying.

What to Pair It With

This is a treat after dinner or a tropical lift in a cocktail, lovely over ice, in a coffee, or in a coconut-forward drink like a Pina Colada riff. It is a fun finish to a meal from the Sparrow menu, and an easy sipper on our four-season dog-friendly patio or in the 21+ lounge. Catch it during the daily happy hour, 3 to 5 PM.
