Four Roses Single Barrel

About Four Roses Single Barrel

Four Roses has been making bourbon in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky since 1888, and its distillery sits on a Spanish Mission-style campus that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. What sets Four Roses apart is its approach to recipes. The distillery combines two separate mash bills with five proprietary yeast strains to produce ten distinct bourbon recipes, more than any other Kentucky distiller. Their Single Barrel is built on the high-rye mash bill paired with a yeast strain known for delicate fruit character, and as the name says, every bottle is drawn from one barrel rather than blended, so each one carries the personality of the cask it came from.

Tasting Notes

This is a bourbon with backbone. The high-rye recipe brings warm baking spice and a little black pepper, layered over ripe fruit, soft caramel, and a touch of oak from time in the rickhouse. It is full-bodied and well-rounded, the kind of pour that rewards slow sipping.

What to Pair It With

A bourbon like this is made for the end of a meal. Sip it neat or over a large cube, or let it stand up to one of our American Wagyu steaks or the Sparrow-Smoked Rack. It also makes a serious Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Settle into our 21+ lounge with it after dinner, or catch the daily happy hour from 3 to 5 PM.
