Don Julio Reposado

From Sparrow’s agave and tequila list, the Don Julio Reposado is a smooth, oak-rested tequila from one of the most respected names in the category ($19 by the pour, or $28.50 for a larger pour).

About Don Julio Reposado

Don Julio is named for Don Julio Gonzalez, who founded his La Primavera distillery in the highlands of Jalisco in the 1940s and spent his life chasing the finest tequila he could make. In 1985 his sons created a tequila in his honor, and the brand has been a benchmark for premium tequila ever since. Like the rest of the range, the Reposado is built on 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the volcanic highland soil of Jalisco. Reposado, which means rested, is the style that spends time in oak barrels, sitting between the bright unaged Blanco and the longer-aged Anejo.

Tasting Notes

A reposado tequila of this pedigree blends the fresh, sweet character of highland agave with the soft warmth that comes from resting in oak. Look for a rounded, mellow sip with notes of cooked agave and a touch of barrel spice, smooth enough to enjoy on its own.

What to Pair It With

Reposado is wonderful sipped neat, over ice, or in a Margarita or our Juanita-Rita. From the Sparrow dinner menu it pairs naturally with the Lamb Quesa-Birria Tacos, the Guajillo Chicken, or the Tuna Tartare. It is a favorite at the quartzite bar in our 21+ lounge, and our daily happy hour runs 3 to 5 PM.
