From Sparrow’s liqueur list, Domaine de Canton is a bright, spicy ginger liqueur built on a base of Cognac, one of the most versatile bottles on our back bar ($11 by the pour, or $16.50 for a larger pour).
About Domaine de Canton
Domaine de Canton is a revised version of a now defunct 1990’s Chinese liqueur, reimagined and relaunched in 2007 by John Cooper. It is made by macerating fresh baby ginger, blending in Tahitian vanilla and honey from Provence, and folding it all together with Cognac. No preservatives, additives, or colorants are used, which keeps the flavor clean and true. Produced in France, it pairs the warmth of Cognac with the lively snap of real ginger, and that balance is exactly why bartenders reach for it so often. It is a smart, food-friendly pour to find here on the Eastside.
Tasting Notes
Expect a vivid hit of fresh ginger up front, rounded out by honeyed sweetness, soft vanilla, and the smooth backbone of Cognac. It is spicy and warming but stays elegant and easy to drink.
What to Pair It With
Domaine de Canton is endlessly mixable. Sip it neat, pour it over ice, or let our bartenders shake it into a cocktail, and its ginger snap is a great match for spice-forward plates from the Sparrow menu like the Guajillo Chicken or the Lamb Quesa-Birria Tacos. It is a fun one to try at our daily happy hour, 3 to 5 PM.
