About Vignerons de Buxy Chardonnay

Vignerons de Buxy is a respected grower cooperative in the Cote Chalonnaise, in the southern part of France’s Burgundy region. It was founded in 1931, when a community of local vine growers pooled their resources during the hard years of the Great Depression to share the work of making and selling their wine. That spirit still defines the place: today it draws on many grower families farming across the Cote Chalonnaise, and it was among the first wineries in Burgundy to earn sustainable certification. The grape here is Chardonnay, the same variety behind every great white Burgundy, labeled simply as Bourgogne. It is grown in the limestone-rich soils that give white Burgundy its hallmark cut and minerality. This bottling is the 2024 vintage. For a glass pour, it is a genuine taste of Burgundy at a neighborhood price.

Tasting Notes

Clean and lively, with the fruit and floral character front and center. Because it sees no oak aging, nothing gets in the way of the bright, mineral-driven Chardonnay underneath, so you taste the grape and the limestone rather than vanilla or toast. It is crisp, fresh, and pure, the kind of white that resets your palate between bites.

What to Pair It With

Unoaked white Burgundy is a classic match for delicate seafood and creamy starters. From the Sparrow dinner menu, the winery suggests the Wild Alaskan Halibut and the creamy Burrata Avocado, and it also shines with the Scallops & Prosciutto, the Pacific Black Cod, or Fresh Oysters.
