Kirk & Sweeny Reserva

About Kirk & Sweeny Reserva

Kirk & Sweeny is named for a Prohibition-era rum-running schooner, the wooden ship that smuggled Caribbean rum up to the Northeast during the dry years. The modern brand is crafted in the Dominican Republic and bottled by 3 Badge Beverage of Sonoma. This Reserva is a meticulous blend of 3 to 18 year rums that are reblended and rebarreled over the course of years before bottling, a patient solera-style approach that layers younger and older rums together for a rounded, harmonious final spirit. The Dominican Republic is celebrated for exactly this kind of smooth, approachable aged rum.

Tasting Notes

Blended Dominican rums like this are known for being soft and easy to sip. Expect a rich, gently sweet profile with notes of caramel, vanilla, toffee, and warm baking spice, carried on a smooth, mellow body. The range of ages in the blend gives it both the brightness of younger rum and the depth of the older barrels.

What to Pair It With

This is a sipping rum, best enjoyed neat or over a large cube in our 21+ lounge, and it makes a lovely rum Old Fashioned. If you want a bite alongside it, the richer plates on the Sparrow dinner menu like the Sparrow-Smoked Rack or the American Wagyu steaks are a natural match.
