From Sparrow’s brandy list, the Hennessey VS is one of the most recognized Cognacs in the world, and a classic pour to sip in our 21+ lounge ($15 by the pour, or $22.50 for a larger pour).
About Hennessey VS
Originally produced in 1765, Hennessey VS has established itself as one of the most popular Cognacs in the world. The house of Hennessy was founded that year by Richard Hennessy, an Irishman who settled in the town of Cognac in France and built what would become the most famous name in the category. The VS, short for Very Special, is the cornerstone of the range. Blends of 40 different eau de vie brandies are aged a minimum of two years with some components as old as 8, all drawn from the Cognac region and distilled from white wine. That deep library of aged spirits is what lets the master blender keep the house style consistent year after year.
Tasting Notes
As the menu describes, it is smooth on the palate with classic barrel notes of oak, vanilla, and caramel, enhanced by subtle fruity and nutty tones. It is a rounded, easygoing Cognac, polished enough to sip neat yet bold enough to carry a cocktail.
What to Pair It With
Hennessey VS is a true crowd-pleaser, great neat, over a large cube, or as the base of a classic cocktail. From the Sparrow dinner menu, enjoy it after the American Wagyu steaks or the Sparrow-Smoked Rack, or settle in with a pour in our 21+ lounge after dinner.
