Hendrick’s

From Sparrow’s gin list, Hendrick’s is the beloved Scottish botanical gin famous for its cucumber and rose character ($13 by the pour, or $19.50 for a larger pour).

About Hendrick’s

Hendrick’s is a classic Scottish botanical gin, distilled by William Grant & Sons at Girvan in Ayrshire, Scotland. What sets it apart is the unusual addition of cucumber and Bulgarian rose on top of a traditional botanical base, giving the gin its signature floral, garden-fresh personality. It is made by blending spirit from two very different stills, a small pot still and a rare Carter-Head still, then finished with cucumber and rose. The result is the smooth, distinctive style that helped kick off the modern craft-gin wave when it launched at the turn of the millennium. It was created by William Grant’s master distiller, who set out to make a gin unlike anything else on the shelf, and that originality is still the whole point of Hendrick’s.

Tasting Notes

Hendrick’s is soft, floral, and refreshing, led by cool cucumber and delicate rose with classic juniper underneath. It is unmistakably gin, but rounder and more aromatic than a straight London dry, which makes it a favorite for both sippers and mixers.

What to Pair It With

Bright and mixable, Hendrick’s is wonderful with Fresh Oysters, Tuna Tartare, or a crisp salad from the Sparrow dinner menu, and of course in its signature cucumber gin and tonic or a clean martini. Enjoy one during the daily happy hour from 3 to 5 PM ($3 off well drinks) in the 21+ lounge or on the patio.
