Blade and Bow Bourbon

From Sparrow’s bourbon list, Blade and Bow is a pour with a real story behind it, a tribute to a legendary distillery and one of the more historically minded bourbons we keep ($19 by the pour, or $28.50 for a larger pour).

About Blade and Bow Bourbon

Blade and Bow pays homage to the storied Stitzel-Weller distillery, which opened in 1935 and closed in 1992. This unique solera-style bourbon blends and continuously ages some of the oldest remaining whiskies from the original distillery with their own younger stock. In a solera system, barrels are never fully drained, so a thread of the original Stitzel-Weller character carries forward into each new bottling, linking the past to the present. The name itself nods to the two parts of a skeleton key, the blade and the bow, a reference to the five keys that once hung on the door of the old distillery.

Tasting Notes

The solera blending gives Blade and Bow a layered, well-rounded profile that balances older and younger whiskey. Expect classic Kentucky bourbon character, soft caramel and vanilla sweetness, a touch of baked fruit and honey, and a smooth, gently warming finish. It drinks with a polish and roundness that reflect the older stock woven through the blend.

What to Pair It With

This is a sipping bourbon best enjoyed neat or over a single large cube, where its depth has room to show. From the Sparrow dinner menu, it pairs beautifully with the American Wagyu steaks, the Sparrow-Smoked Rack, or the Truffle Deviled Eggs. Settle in with a pour after dinner in our 21+ lounge at the quartzite bar.
