About Woodford Reserve

Woodford Reserve is made at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Woodford County, Kentucky, near the town of Versailles, by the Brown-Forman Corporation. Distilling has happened on the site since 1812, when Elijah Pepper set up shop, and the property later became known as the Oscar Pepper Distillery where the famed distiller James Crow worked in the mid-1800s. Brown-Forman refurbished the historic distillery and brought it back into operation, introducing the Woodford Reserve brand in 1996. The distillery itself is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, a nod to its well-preserved architecture and its role in the story of American bourbon. It is bottled as a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon.

Tasting Notes

Woodford Reserve shows the classic, rounded character bourbon lovers come back for. Expect a balance of sweet and spicy, with notes that lean toward dried fruit, vanilla, and toasted oak over a smooth body. It is approachable enough to sip on its own and structured enough to anchor a cocktail.

What to Pair It With

This is a sipping bourbon, lovely neat or over a large cube, and it makes a classic Old Fashioned or Manhattan. From the Sparrow dinner menu it is right at home with the American Wagyu steaks, the Sparrow-Smoked Rack, or the Truffle Deviled Eggs. Settle into our 21+ lounge with its quartzite bar after dinner, or catch the daily happy hour from 3 to 5 PM.
