Rex Hill Pinot Noir

From Sparrow’s red wine by the bottle list, the Rex Hill Pinot Noir is a plush, cool-climate Oregon red that we are happy to pour here in Kirkland, and it is $100 by the bottle.

About Rex Hill Pinot Noir

Rex Hill is one of Oregon’s established names, founded in 1982 in Newberg and making elegant Willamette Valley Pinot Noir for more than 30 years. The winery was built around an old fruit and nut drying facility, and in 2007 it was taken over by the families behind A to Z Wineworks, who refocused production on quality and distinction. This is a 2022 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that, as the menu describes, exudes true cool-climate flavors and aromas. It is the kind of bottle that rewards a slow dinner with friends, and it has become a favorite among our Eastside guests who want a true Oregon Pinot without the trip down to wine country.

Tasting Notes

Expect red and black berries, fleshy plums, and dark cherries alongside vanilla, black tea, and baking spices like star anise and nutmeg. The oak is well integrated, and the flavors meld together beautifully for a palate that is round, plush, and textured. It is generous and polished from the first sip, with enough structure and lift to keep it interesting all the way through dinner.

What to Pair It With

This versatile Pinot pairs across the menu. From the Sparrow dinner menu, try it with the Braised Duck, the Guajillo Chicken, or the Wild Alaskan Halibut. The plush fruit also makes it a friendly match for the Italian Sausage Fresh Rigatoni.
