About Jameson Irish Whiskey
Jameson traces its story back to 1780, when John Jameson opened the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin under the motto Sine Metu, Latin for “without fear.” Over the following century Bow Street grew into one of the largest distilleries in Ireland, and Jameson became the name much of the world came to associate with Irish whiskey. After the Bow Street and John’s Lane distilleries in Dublin closed in 1976, production moved to the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork, where Jameson is still made today alongside other Irish Distillers labels. The original Bow Street site now operates as a museum, a fitting tribute to a whiskey with more than two centuries of history behind it.
