Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr. is the whiskey tycoon who founded the famous Buffalo Trace distillery in 1870, on the site of an existing distillery that dates back to 1775. This makes Buffalo Trace one of the longest continuously running distilleries in America. Taylor was a pioneer of the modern industry and a champion of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897.
