Deux Familles Madeira Cask

From Sparrow’s brandy list, the Deux Familles Madeira Cask is a special small-batch Cognac and one of the finest after-dinner sippers we pour ($23 by the pour, or $34.50 for a larger pour).

About Deux Familles Madeira Cask

This is an outstanding small batch Cognac aged in red and French oak for 6 to 8 years before being finished in casks previously used for Madeira wine. The name Deux Familles, French for two families, reflects the project’s roots: a partnership joining American spirits know-how with generations of Cognac craftsmanship, with a focus on honest, small-batch releases. That Madeira-cask finish is the signature move here, layering the fortified-wine character of the Portuguese island’s casks over a well-aged Cognac base. Our bottle is number 1804 out of only 2050 in this batch, a reminder of just how limited this release is.

Tasting Notes

The menu calls out prune, raisin, oak, and toffee notes, which make this an ideal after dinner sipper. The long aging and the Madeira finish push it toward rich dried fruit and dessert-like depth, with the oak giving it backbone and the toffee rounding out a warm, lingering close.

What to Pair It With

A Cognac this special deserves to be sipped slowly, neat or over a single large cube, so nothing gets in the way of those layers. From the Sparrow dinner menu, treat it as the perfect end to a meal of American Wagyu steak or the Sparrow-Smoked Rack, enjoyed in our 21+ lounge after dinner.
